Chaplain, Lt Col Ryan M. Yi is the Wing Chaplain at the 102d Intelligence Wing in the Massachusetts Air National Guard, Otis ANGB, MA. As Wing Chaplain, he serves to provide spiritual support and the free exercise of religion for over 1,000 men and women of the Massachusetts Island Air National Guard. He also serves to advise leadership on all matters pertaining to the religious, ethical, and moral welfare of the 102d Intelligence Wing. In addition, Chaplain Yi serves as the 102d Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Group’s deployed-in-garrison chaplain supporting Operation Spartan Shield. Chaplain Yi was first commissioned as a U.S. Air Force Chaplain Candidate in April of 2004. He has served a total of seventeen years. He completed Basic Chaplain Course in 2009, accessing as a Chaplain with the U.S. Air Force Reserves in January 2009. He has also served as the Active Duty Operational Support (ADOS) Staff Chaplain at the Joint Office of the Chaplain, National Guard Bureau from 2020-2022. Prior to his current position, Chaplain Yi served eight years as the Wing Chaplain at the 143d Airlift Wing, Rhode Island Air National Guard. Chaplain Yi is a Board Certified Chaplain with the National Association of Veteran Affairs Chaplains, completing four units of Clinical Pastoral Education with Centered Life in 2016 and with Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA in 2018. Chaplain Yi completed his Doctor of Ministry in 2020 with his thesis concerning Wing Chaplain Mentorship. Chaplain Yi was ordained in 2008 with the Evangelical Covenant Church.
